Apple launches rich 'Close Your Rings' webpage to promote healthy living with Apple Watch

Just in time for some weekend motivation, Apple has added a new page to their website promoting Apple Watch’s activity tracking features. The page, titled “Close Your Rings,” details realistic and effective ways that Watch wearers can live a healthier and more active lifestyle by completing one simple goal each day.

After the original Apple Watch went on sale in 2015, one of its standout features quickly became health tracking with the Activity and Exercise apps. In subsequent years, watchOS 2, 3 and 4 have aggressively expanded the capabilities of Apple Watch as a health conscious device. In 2016, Apple introduced special activity challenges that roll out randomly throughout the year. The first was a Thanksgiving award that challenged participants to complete a 5k walk, run, or wheelchair workout on Thanksgiving day.

Recently, Apple has begun using the phrase “Close Your Rings” as a motivational slogan for the Watch’s activity app. The company even hosts internal activity challenges where employees can win special activity-themed gear.

The new activity webpage takes the promotion a step further, explaining in detail what it means to close your rings, and how the challenge can be simple and fun. Apple offers several suggestions on how regular people can burn more active calories in day, like walking the dog, gardening, and playing chase with your kids.

In addition, the page highlights new health features found in watchOS 4, including monthly activity challenges, new award animations and a redesigned workout app. A focus on active lifestyles is just one part of Apple’s comprehensive work in health over the past few years.

Last fall, Apple partnered with Stanford to launch the Apple Heart Study, This spring, iOS 11.3 will bring health record integration to the iPhone for the first time.
