‘Iron Chef’ Cat Cora partners with Weight Watchers on health food cafe

Not your average stadium food!

“Iron Chef” Cat Cora partnered with Weight Watchers (rebranded now as WW) on a first-of-its-kind health food destination inside of Barclays Center in Brooklyn called WW Freestyle Café: BKLYN.

Launched on Thursday in conjunction with Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour stop in Brooklyn, the cafe will feature a slew of Mediterranean-inspired dishes that reflect Cora’s Greek-American heritage.

“WW is about bringing healthy habits to where people are, so being here in an arena is super exciting, because it’s unexpected,” Cora told AOL exclusively at the restaurant launch on Thursday. “People don’t expect to come here and have healthy cuisine, but my platform has always been about that.”

Though healthy eating has come more and more to the forefront of the global conversation around food, Cora told us that it’s always been part of her approach to cooking, which she’s been promoting on television since 1999.

“It’s been a lifelong thing for me,” she said of promoting healthy eating. “I wanted to be that chef that created a platform for healthy cuisine globally, and I’ve been doing it since before it was trendy.”

Part of what attracted Cora to WW — and what has always attracted her to cooking healthily — is the fact that it’s a concept and approach that can work for everyone: There may not be just one approach to eating well, but there is an approach that’s right for each individual person, and she wants to help people get there.

“It’s not just for one kind of person,” she explained. “It’s for everyone, and we’re embracing that completely.”
