Muslimah promote healthy living with Tai Chi

THE Muslimah Class of Zainab Mosque, Lumut organised an outdoor Tai Chi activity at a recreational park beside the beachfront in Lumut, Belait District yesterday morning.

According to a teacher of the class, Shamsiah binti Haji Abdul Wahid, the activity was held to encourage participants to exercise mind and body for a healthy lifestyle and establish closer relationship among themselves.

Asked why Tai Chi was chosen in particular, Shamsiah said it’s not only a healthy sporting activity but also soft and calm that can easily by picked up and learnt by the Muslimah as many of them are senior members.

The Tai Chi activity was led by a practitioner of Tai Chi and resident of Kampong Sungai Liang Ivy Chan. She taught various basic Tai Chi moves and techniques to the Muslimah.

Twenty participated in the Tai Chi activity open to all Muslimah living in the area of Zainab Mosque.

Shamsiah said more Tai Chi activities will continue to be held every week for the Muslimah.
