Workout Wednesday: BurnRate Fitness Offers High Intensity Interval Training

MEBANE, N.C. – Did you know most adults are not getting enough exercise?

The CDC recommends at least 2 hours and 30 minutes of physical activity each week for adults.

But, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, only one in three adults are receiving the recommended amount of exercise each week.

Adults aren’t the only ones having trouble working out on the regular.

Children and adolescents age 6 and older need at least an hour a day of physical activity.

But, statistics show, only one in three children are physically active every day.

Instead of playing outside and working up a sweat, kids are spending more than seven and a half hours a day in front of a screen.

That includes watching the TV, playing videogames, and using the computer.

Regular physical activity helps improve your overall health, fitness, and reduces your risk for many chronic diseases.

Physical activity is anything that gets your body moving, such as walking, playing sports, or lifting weights.

Health officials recommend two types of physical activity each week to maintain a healthy lifestyle: Aerobic and Muscle-Strengthening.

BurnRate Fitness, a new family operated gym located in Mebane, offers aerobic and muscle-strengthening for both adults and children.

Experienced coaches use High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) classes to help participants reach health and fitness goals.

HIIT involves exercising at high exertion levels, getting your heart rate up, and recovering in a short period.

The workout creates a state in the body where oxygen use is increased for up to two hours after the workout is completed.

That means up to 15 percent more calories are burned than traditional moderate-intensity exercises.

BurnRate comes equipped with top of the line fitness equipment, including treadmills, weights, water rowing machines, boxing bags, and much more.

The facility also provides real-time heart rate monitoring, nutrition planning, and group motivation.

You can beat the statistics and get started on meeting your recommended amount of exercising today.

Plus, your first training session at BurnRate Fitness is free.
